Matt Riggs

"The analytical discipline developed through military leadership, an MBA, and corporate consulting at Accenture translates directly into the rigorous, data-driven real estate analysis that federal agencies demand."

Matt Riggs joined the Minnesota National Guard at 17 in 2002, motivated by the events of September 11th. He deployed as an infantryman to Farah, Afghanistan from 2004 to 2005, logging more than 5,000 miles in-theater — the most in his company — and earning the Combat Infantryman's Badge and Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM). He was the youngest soldier in his unit at the time.

Following his first deployment, Matt enrolled in ROTC at Minnesota State University, Mankato, earning a B.S. in Mass Communications and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps. He went on to serve five years on active duty with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia, including a second deployment to Afghanistan from 2012 to 2013.

After completing his active duty service, Matt built a multidisciplinary professional foundation that directly informs his real estate practice. He joined Accenture, the global consulting firm, where he led engagements in human capital strategy and deal execution — developing the analytical frameworks and structured problem-solving skills that underpin every market analysis and lease evaluation he delivers today.

Matt was accepted to the MBA program at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington — one of the nation's top business schools — where he pursued his degree while simultaneously launching a fast-casual franchise restaurant (Nautical Bowls) in Minnesota. It was during the process of negotiating his own commercial lease for that business that Matt recognized his true passion: the intersection of real estate, market analysis, and deal-making. After two years successfully operating the business, he sold it to pursue commercial real estate full time.

Alongside his MBA, Matt served as a Venture Partner at VU Venture Partners — a multi-stage investment fund with offices in San Francisco, New York, and Hong Kong — where he worked on the PropTech and FinTech investment team. In this role he sourced new investment opportunities, conducted market due diligence, and evaluated founders seeking funding across real estate technology and financial innovation — giving him a rare investor-level perspective on commercial real estate markets and emerging technology.

Matt also completed a Defense Ventures Fellowship at The Outpost, a Washington D.C.-based government contracting consulting firm. Embedded with their team, he worked directly on government strategy engagements — helping businesses identify contract opportunities, connect with government stakeholders, and build winning proposal strategies. This experience gave Matt firsthand insight into how federal agencies procure services and how small businesses successfully compete for government contracts.

Today, Matt is a licensed Commercial Real Estate professional with an active brokerage practice, bringing current market intelligence and transaction experience to every engagement. He continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Academy Liaison Officer for the United States Military Academy at West Point, holding the rank of Major — a role that reflects over 23 years of total military service.

Matt lives in Minnetonka, Minnesota with his wife Randi, a Mayo Clinic-trained Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and their two daughters. The family enjoys golf, skiing, and travel.
